I received my BS in Biological Sciences (Invertebrate
Zoology) and Chemistry (Biochemistry) from California
State University, Hayward (CSUH).
After university I worked for a year in the PCR
division at Cetus Corp.
I then went to the University of Chicago where I
studied Herpes Simplex Virus 1 (HSV-1) with
Prof. Bernard Roizman and received my MS and PhD in the
Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
My interest in the application of gene therapy and
neurobiology lead me next to do postdoctoral work with
Dr. Robert Sapolsky at Stanford University.
I joined the faculty of Biomedical Engineering in the
Fall of 2005.
